5. 'tweren't no iggerant brit saying this

Jay Dietrich, 25, a petty officer in the US Navy, from Pennsylvania, has brought his M15 assault rifle down to the range.

A fearsome-looking weapon, it is the same as the M16 used by the military, except for the fact that it is not fully automatic.

Jay tells me it is a very popular purchase in the US at the moment.

He says that with murderous drug wars going on across the Mexican border, it is good to be able to carry such a powerful weapon in the boot of the car. Its magazine can be loaded almost instantaneously, as he demonstrates.

"It's definitely fashionable right now," he says. "It makes you feel (you're) a step up the food chain, I guess. There are plenty of psychological reasons for it."

Now we just KNOW what everybody here would be bellowing if it had been some non-gun-militant saying that stuff ...

3. Bad taste?
It would probably be in poor taste to point out to SKY news that more than a few of those Good Ol' Texas boys fathers and grandfathers were also good shots at Pointe du Hoc, St. Lo and St. Mere Eglise I guess.

4. Another lie written by a reporter to mislead gun-grabbers and others ignorant about such things.

A reporter desiring to write on the topic should learn that a rifle that is "not fully automatic" is not an "assault rifle".

It's also not an "assault weapon" because neither the Federal code nor Texas statues define an "assault weapon".
