UN never said Taiwan was part of China, vice president says
Taiwan is not a part of China, and UN Resolution 2758 in 1971 didn't say that Taiwan is a part of China, Taiwan Vice President Annette Lu (???) said in an interview published by the Philippine Star newspaper yesterday.

In the interview, conducted by the paper's publisher Maximo Soliven in Taiwan on Thursday, Lu said it is unfair to force Taiwan to unite with China, because Taiwan has been an independent country for many many years.

Law of the jungle

Likening Taiwan to a cat and China to a lion in the Taiwan-China dispute, Lu said that pushing the cat to the lion would inevitably result in the cat being eaten by the lion. "This is the law of the jungle, not the law of human society," she added.

In order to maintain peace in the world, Lu said, "predatory animals should be confined to their cages while small and tame animals should be allowed to roam free."
