AU sends more troops to keep watch in Darfur
Nairobi - The African Union is to increase from 465 to 3 320 the number of personnel monitoring a shaky ceasefire in Sudan's war-ravaged western Darfur region, the pan-African body said in a statement on Thursday.

The seven-fold increase was decided on Wednesday by the AU's Peace and Security Council, which said the expanded African Mission in Sudan (AMIS) will consist of "2 341 military personnel, among them 450 observers, up to 815 civilian police, as well as the appropriate civilian personnel," the statement added.
