Howard Zinn urges Kerry to change position on Iraq. I have two questions:
See below for link:

Here is what interests me. I would like to know how Dem supporters of the war in Iraq feel right now. And I specifically address this to any DU members who may be card carrying members of the Joe Lieberman / DLC wing of the Party. So if you are someone who believed the WMD warnings, saw Saddam Hussein as a major threat, and supported the preemptive war in Iraq, here are two questions:

A. Are you beginning to change your mind at all? Do the words of Howard Zinn begin to ring true to you? Do you still think the war was justifed, and more importantly do you still want to "stay the course" in Iraq.

B. How will you react if Kerry takes a much stronger position against the war between now and the election, particularly in the debates? Will you feel abandoned? Will you abandon Kerry, or will you circle the wagons??

Thanks in advance for any replys.

Howard Zinn- "Kerry Needs the Courage to Walk Away from Iraq"

Published on Thursday, September 16, 2004 by the Miami Herald

by Howard Zinn

If John Kerry wants to win, he must recognize that our military intervention in Iraq is a disaster -- for Americans, for Iraqis, for the world.

*******

He should not be saying that he will wage the Iraq War better, that he will replace U.S. troops with soldiers from other countries. If it is immoral for our soldiers to be occupying Iraq and killing Iraqis every day, then it is immoral for foreign soldiers to do the same.

He should be clear: We are not defending our country by our war in Iraq, and we should get out.

...and articulates a clear plan for disengagement: I'll vote for him. Otherwise not.

on edit: why'd you post this in I/P? I suspect it will have a short life here....

2. I'm looking for bloggers who see the war in Iraq as the war to make the
middle east safe for Israel in general (which is a noble goal), and also safe for Zionist settlers to "occupy" the "Holy Lands" in the West Bank (which is a monstrous injustice that will end up getting a million Americans killed).

I'm wondering if Democrats who support the war are beginning to see that it is a national disaster for both us and for Israel -- that is why I thought it should get a viewing here too.
