South Korean Party Plans Impeachment Motion

SEOUL, South Korea - South Korean opposition parties plan to file an impeachment motion against President Roh Moo-hyun after he was found to have violated election laws with comments aimed at influencing parliamentary voting, a Grand National Party official said Monday.

The fellow opposition Millennium Democratic Party had said last week it would try to impeach the president if he did not apologize by Sunday for violating election laws during a news conference late last month.

Roh has yet to do so. An official from the Grand National Party said on condition of anonymity Monday that both opposition parties planned to submit an impeachment motion to parliament on Tuesday.

Last week, the country's election watchdog ruled that Roh violated election rules with comments that could unfairly influence next month's election, although it found that Roh's infraction was minor.

I live in Korea and the whole thing is so absurd. The GNP, the MOST corrupt political party in a real democracy on this planet (Sorry Repubs, they do it more crooked here), has just been hit by the national prosectors office with evidence that they received 200,000,000+ US dollars worth of bribes. The MDP, which Roh quit, is still mad that he quit and that they have also been proven to be ripe with corruption. How to handle it. Fess up????? Hell, No. Find a non-issue and cloud the truth. The Repubs know this too.
