Millions seized as Israel raids banks

Israeli forces have raided Arab banks on the West Bank, seizing millions of dollars that Israel said was financing Palestinian terrorism.

The money was removed from hundreds of institutional and personal accounts. The raid was by far the largest such seizure during more than three years of conflict.

Witnesses said soldiers covered the banks' security cameras with black plastic bags and herded employees together before ordering workers with keys to open the vaults.

Israeli officials defended the operation, which was still under way yesterday, saying it was aimed carefully at terrorist financing and in line with US President George Bush's call for action against such funds.

6. the palestinian authority

and the state of israel have been working for over a year in dealing with the transfer of funds in the banking industry. is this another desparate attempt by sharon to hide his corruption? but even more damaging and probaly what the main reason was to strip the palestinian of their access to banks and their money. someday the stench of sharon be so overpowering that even the israeli peoples will no longer be able to hold their noses and say we smelled nothing.

you see signs here and there, but bank robbery
is a pretty desperate measure. You have to wonder
what was up with the security cameras too, why not
just turn them off? And what is it that you don't
want recorded anyway, it's all on the up-an-up, right?
