Hopes Fade for Quick Breakthrough in North Korean Nuclear Crisis
By Hans Greimel Associated Press Writer

PANMUNJOM, Korea (AP) - Hopes faded Friday for a quick breakthrough in the North Korean nuclear crisis, with European diplomats saying the North shows no sign of compromise, and South Korea indicating new six-nation talks won't happen until next year.

The developments came amid a flurry of attempts to breathe life into a new round of negotiations aimed at persuading North Korea to dismantle its nuclear weapons programs.

European diplomats, who held three days of talks in Pyongyang, reported that the communist government was not easing up on its earlier preconditions for the talks.

"They cannot possibly dismantle their program until they have all the assurances they need for their security. They see the nuclear weapons option as indispensable for their national security," said Percy Westerlund, director of external relations for the European Commission. <snip>

1. What a bunch of BS

North Korea(Kim) doesn't give a damn about their security. NOBODY in their right mind(even bush) will attack them or threaten Kim's hold on power. He/North Korea ain't worth it. All he wants is MONEY, FREE STUFF, FOOD. Just so he doesn't have to starve his own people to maintain power. So he threatens. So others will kiss his butt and give him what he wants. He bluffs. He doesn't get what he wants? He threatens more! Acts unstable.

The only threat he faces, is from within. A meager one at that. He has his korean people under his own brand of mind control, and it is good. But he is looking to the future. And want US to pay for it. He want us to be the sucker. Not a sign of madness.

The noisy wheel gets the oil. It's that simple.

I don't pretend to have the answer, but that is the truth of it.

3. It TIS amazing
how they keep respinning the same baby food. One might think that when they don't have anything new to report some of these journalists would do some needed followup on all the LOOSE ENDS regarding the various falsifications and exaggerations our present policy mongers are guilty of and perhaps begin to righteously out all the lying within this horse and pony show fondly referred to as our "war on terrorism!" Perhaps put some *investigation* back into the reporting game.
