Wind mills on Lanai could help power Oahu
http://www.kpua.net/news.php?id=11693

HONOLULU (AP) _ A proposed wind farm on Lanai could provide between 15 percent and 20 percent of Oahu's electricity.

<snip>

Electrical power generated by winds blowing across Lanai would be transmitted to Oahu via undersea cable.

However, even if the project is successful, Hawaiian Electric Company says a new biofuel power plant would still need to be built on Oahu.

Castle and Cooke has also announced plans for a solar photovoltaic farm on Lanai. It would supply 30 percent of the island's electricity.

1. They could even use it to power the inter-island railroad.
