Iran does not wish to use oil as a weapon: president

2 hours, 6 minutes ago

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on
Monday Iran does not wish to use oil as a weapon in its standoff
with the West over its nuclear program.

"I affirm that we do not wish to use oil as a weapon," Ahmadinejad
told Reuters in an interview conducted along with Iranian Al-Alam
television station.

Iran's oil minister last week suggested the world's fourth largest
crude exporter could use oil as a weapon if it was attacked.

Analysts have said that if Iran chose to stop oil flows, which top
Iranian officials have threatened in the past, it would be a double-
edged sword by squeezing world markets but also stemming the
country's main source of export earnings.

1. Of course not. They need the damned money to pay their bloated government workers (badly)
and to fund their widows and orphans pensions from the Iraq War. To say nothing of keeping the mullahs comfy.

And they know that Saudi will swing if they do. Because the Saudis, despite their recent efforts at taroof, trust them about as far as they could toss them.

All that a shutdown by Iran would accomplish is to hasten the day that oil isn't "all that" anymore. And Iran really doesn't have a "Plan B" on THAT score....
