Sugar venture not so sweet - Kruger National Park
Edited on Thu Aug-28-03 06:01 AM by dArKeR
Kruger National Park officials fear that a new billion-rand sugar project on its borders will dry up rivers in the world-renowned park.

The Kruger park is just one of several concerned parties warning that water-intensive sugar crops will place a heavy burden on the drought-stricken Limpopo province.
The proposed project is also complicating relations between South Africa and Mozambique, because the rivers that run through the Kruger park supply water to the neighbouring country.

The developers of the Blyde river sugar project near Hoedspruit in Limpopo promise it will relieve grinding poverty in the area by creating 7 000 jobs. They also say it will give the region an economic boost by empowering black farmers.

OK, if KRUGER can't be protected from the pressures of humans then sooner or later you have to be honest with yourself and realize the Earth will be dead very soon and I did nothing to stop it and Repukes caused it by their policies. For one, Just Say No To Sex, right. And, 'Don't use a condom, it's immoral because God and the Pope told me it was.'

1. Kruger Park
In 1970 I worked for two months in Phalabora. This is located at one of the main entry points of Kruger Park. Every weekend I spent driving thru the park. I would hate to think that this beautiful and fragile environment would be loss. I have worked in several places around the world, Kruger Park is one of my best memories
