Global warming is the greatest environmental challenge we have ever faced.

action, Speaker Pelosi created the House Select Committee on Energy

security threat posed by global warming. Carl Pope will discuss the causes
of global warming and oil dependence and explain the risks global warming
poses to our environment, economy, and security. Pope will also discuss
the solutions available today--improving fuel economy, setting a federal
renewable electricity standard, and implementing an economy-wide carbon cap
to reduce our global warming emissions 80 percent by 2050.
