Huge toxic clean-up for Canada
Edited on Thu May-13-04 09:16 AM by gulfcoastliberal
The Canadian government has announced plans to spend C$400m ($288m) on cleaning up the country's most hazardous toxic waste site.

The 81-acre site in Sydney, Nova Scotia, in eastern Canada, contains 700,000 tonnes of chemicals.

At least 45,000 tonnes of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), as well as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, arsenic, lead and dioxins have accumulated in an area known as Muggah Creek.

Residents have complained of an orange ooze seeping into their cellars, and of fluorescent green rain puddles.
