The UN's new international radiation symbol

'Seriously, this is what the UN, the ISO, and the IAEA came up with.'

1. Damn! I was lobbying hard for the...
..."kiss your ass goodbye" design.

I understand the reasoning behind the radiation symbol, the wavy lines and the skull and crossbones, but what good would doing "The Hustle" do me if I was exposed to radiation? Do they assume I'll be wearing shiny metallic disco clothes that will reflect some of the gamma rays?

2. For the convenience of pirates and joggers at this location
we have installed a big rotating fan!

Have a nice day :)

3. It's far more entertaining. And much more honest than Duck And Cover.
I mean, who ever believed they could hide from radiation under an elementary school desk? At least this says, "If you can't outrun radioactive particulates, you'll look like the guy on the left".

Way to go. This wins the award for taking something and confusing it. All in the name of having to show the boss you are busy doing something. Sometimes doing nothing is the best job.

4. I still prefer NNadir's suggestion:

Now that's a universally scary image.

5. It's cheesy looking, but the message is definitely clear.
I thought warning signs were bright yellow, though, and why is the skull smiling? :freak:

7. What is the international symbol for dangerous fossil fuel waste?
It is rather remarkable that while nuclear materials kill zero people and dangerous fossil fuel waste kills continuously on a huge scale, that such symbols are necessary.

How about a picture of the dead bodies floating in New Orleans? Do you buy that one, or is your contention that dangerous fossil fuel wastes are harmless?

10. It doesn't seem as dangerous as dangerous fossil fuel waste.
How about just a photograph, attached to smokestacks of dangerous coal plants as they indiscriminately dump dangerous fossil fuel wastes into the air:
