Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R - MD) To Introduce 15 Energy Bills, Including Peak Oil Resolution
U.S. Rep. Roscoe Bartlett will introduce the following bills in the new congressional term:

Peak Oil Resolution -- Reintroduction of H. Res 507 that expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that the United States, in collaboration with other international allies, should establish an energy project with the magnitude, creativity, and sense of urgency that was incorporated in the "Man on the Moon" project address the inevitable challenges of "Peak Oil."

Energy Farm Bill -- Reintroduction of H. R. 5925 to support federal research, development, demonstration, and commercial application activities to enable the development of farms that are net producers of both food and energy.

Expanded Tax Credit for Hybrid Vehicles -- Introduced a new bill to increase from 60,000 to 250,000 the annual limit on vehicles, such as hybrids, eligible for the alternative motor vehicle tax credit.

You probably won't like many of the other bills, but at this point, it's like Churchill's famous quote - "If Hitler were to invade Hell, I would at the very least make a favorable reference to The Devil in the House of Commons."

1. Damn, hatrack, this is a REPUBLICAN??
What's he doing in that party? Although, I think his "Peak Oil" resolution should encourage us to tackle both Peak Oil AND GW with what we put into the Manhattan Project.

No doubt in my mind something can be done, even if we have to sacrifice like it was WWII.

2. Sorry - can't edit - should say "15 Bills" instead of "15 Energy Bills"
My bad.

I've met Bartlett - as he said in his speech, "I may be a conservative Republican, but that doesn't mean I'm an idiot."

3. Well...you're right I don't like the other bills but in the case of PO,
I can overlook those other bills!!! Besides, we have a Dem majority now and some of those would not likely pass as easily.

I sure hope some more Dems will get on board with Bartlett's PO awareness. We all need to write our local Reps. about meeting with Bartlett on this issue and tell them to support him on this.
