Bush Plans Earth Day Appearance In Maine 4/22
PORTLAND, Maine — President Bush plans to travel to Maine on Thursday to deliver an Earth Day speech about the environment.

Bush´s lunchtime appearance will be at Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve at Laudholm Farm, a center for the study of local ecosystems.

U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, said the visit was welcome news for Maine. "I´m thrilled that the president will have the opportunity to get to know the greater Wells community, so he better understands our plans and concerns . . .," she said.

But environmentalists said an Earth Day appearance by Bush does not erase a record that they said has not been beneficial to the environment. "My hope would be that the president would bring some good news about his administration´s intent to protect the environment for a change," said Brownie Carson, executive director of the Natural Resources Council of Maine."

EDIT

http://news.mainetoday.com/apwire/D820LCPO0-107.shtml

So, will he stand near some trees, or near some water? Will he say that trees are important, and that water is good? Will he pronounce that "If you're a landowner, every day is Earth Day"?

Inquiring minds can't wait for the jolly slapping sound of the greenwash brush!

4. Bush's should tell everyone his real views on the environoment
In his speech: There's no such thing as global warming. Corporations should write their own rules governing pollution, and National Parks need to be opened for logging and oil drilling.

7. This is the kind of bullshit photo-op
that makes me wish there really were Ents, and one of them would squash him flat. I think his Clear Skies initiative is just what Al Franken says-an initiative to clear the skies of birds.

8. It seems like every time *Bush does a photo-op
the subject of the 'op gets thoroughly ravaged. I wonder what *bush has up his sleeve now? Scrapping the EPA? Refusing to prosecute any wrong-doers under any environmental, claiming "prosecutorial discretion?"
