Platts - UK Natural Gas Output In June 2006 Down 24% Year-On-Year
UK natural gas output in June 2006 was 6,429 million cubic feet/day (182
million cubic meters/day), down 24% from June 2005 output of 8,493 million cu
ft/day, according to latest figures from the Royal Bank of Scotland oil and
gas index.

Output was also down on the month, falling from 8,362 million cu ft/day
in May 2006, although gas output traditionally declines in summer months as
fields are shut for maintenance and demand is lower.

EDIT

"Early summer maintenance depressed oil, and in particular, gas
production in the North Sea in June," said RBS in a note, "but the sharp
decline in production compared to one year ago suggests that the secular
decline of the North Sea continues."

"It is a conundrum that the increase in investment spending seen over the
last year has not resulted in measurable output growth. Soaring costs fail to
explain the sluggish supply response, since higher input bills have not
prevented a sharp pick-up in drilling activity."

1. This may have an effect on their combined cycle power plants.

2. Yes, and the article had a surprised tone, didn't you think?

"Do you mean to tell me that money in doesn't equal gas out?!?"

Who knew? :eyes:

3. I think we're all astounded to learn fossil fuels can be exhausted.
Importing natural gas to an island is pretty problematic.

It seems as if everyone wants to import natural gas. With all this importation going on there must be huge supplies somewhere.

Besides, you can get a tax credit for doing it!

5. Oh yeah?
My house is so well insulated that we had to open the window to avoid suffocating.

(The official Tom Ridge Brand duct tape helped us to that happy end.)

My tax break is so big that the government borrows money from China to send me checks.

7. Experts assure me that fossil fuels won't peak for 20-50 years!
And they wouldn't say it unless it was true, right?
