It looks like the drought has claimed a new look for one of South Dakotas popular tourist attractions for at least a year.

The Corn Palace Committee is recommending to the Mitchell City Council that existing murals on the building remain in place for another season.

Dry weather has reduced the availability of colored corn used to decorate the Corn Palace.

Corn Palace Director Mark Schilling took a look at the crop and says there wasn't enough colored corn to complete a new theme.

I had recently decided to cancel my planned visit to South Dakota's corn palace on the grounds of their law outlawing a woman's right to choose, but it looks like I would have missed what I've been waiting my whole life to see.

affected by drought that year, not as colorful as it should have been.
