Record power use could bring Ontario brownouts (CBC) {99 degrees!!}
As of noon Tuesday, Ontarians had already consumed more electricity in one day than ever before, with demand expected to soar even higher by early evening.

A spokesman for Ontario's Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) said the province is on the verge of brownouts, or temporary reductions in electrical voltage, if power use is not reduced.

Power consumption hit an all-time record of 26,712 megawatts at 1 p.m., according to the organization managing Ontario's power supply.

The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) predicts electricity demand will peak at 27,225 megawatts by 5 p.m. ET, beating the previous record by more than enough to power a city the size of London.

The record was set on July 13, 2005, when demand peaked at 26,160 megawatts.

The weather forecast for Windsor, ON is at http://www.cbc.ca/weather/conditions.jsp?station=YQG . I checked Windsor because it is just across the bridge from (east and mostly south of) Detroit. 37C = 98.6 F
