Idea for posting in Environment/Energy
It is cool that people have gone to great lengths to bring us links from around the world.

But it does clog the board, eh?

Why not do like they do in Election Reform where the news is posted in one thread?

At this link is an example:

1. How about this...
...get approval to run an environmental news meta-thread in LBN, like they do with the stock market watch. Then people could post here if they wanted to talk on something in-length, or just read the news.

When an article deserves special attention, a thread would be created in E/E and just a link to it posted in the news thread -- which helps pull people into E/E. I think that's better than running the news thread here, because it gives E/E more exposure having a thread floating in LBN than just a smattering across the latest/greatest.

It does take a few dedicated hands, but we already have a few here and I'd be willing to fill in on occasion.

(Actually come to think of it, the election reform forum should see about moving that thread to LBN as well. Given that it's only one thread for each group, the admins might see it as a way to reduce "noise" in LBN as well.)

3. Good idea

Wonder what the admins would say?

I could see that having a special category for Voting news could tend to reduce noise. But then wouldn't every other news category want their own special place?

Of course, one could post up one original thread, and say more news inside, and put the other posts below in one fell swoop like they do in ER?

Keeping it simple may be the best, and leave the admins out of it. Like they do in ER.... there have been no problems there, IIRC.

Yeah, the Stock thread in LBN does work pretty well, so there is precedent that seems to be working.

4. On the whole, I think that it is a good idea.
It might be of benefit.

2. Disagree
Personally, I really don't see much of a problem now. There simply aren't that many new threads posted here each day that I'm seeing a problem or clogging.
