Son of Carbon-Tax... (NZ)
They're persistent, at least: we'll see how far this one goes...

The Government is poised to announce a revised version of its scrapped carbon tax. It will target energy generators and is likely to lead to an increase in fuel and power bills.

Energy Minister David Parker yesterday told a parliamentary select committee that officials were working through options for the tax and a proposal for consultation would be outlined in the next two months.

A final decision would be taken in May or June next year.

The Government scrapped its broad-based carbon levy in December saying the tax, which would have raised $360 million a year, no longer had enough support in the House.
