http://www.tomahjournal.com/articles/2006/03/20/opinion/03blackmorecolumn.txtIf I was a resident of Monroe County or a County Board member who wanted to make an intelligent and informed decision about the pending wind energy amendment to the county zoning code, I think I would be very confused.
Advertise Info. Directory On one hand you have a small group of area residents who are predicting calamities of all sorts of the county allows wind development to occur anywhere in the county.
On the other hand, you have a large group of supportive landowners and information that indicates that wind energy benefits the family farm by increasing and diversifying net farm income, produces $6,000 per year in tax revenue to the township and county, and produces clean, safe, renewable energy.
I have been involved in this debate since Invenergy sent me to the Summit Ridge area to acquire land for a wind energy project in Dec. of 2004.
Based on the years that I have worked on and around wind farms, the dire predictions of those opposed to both the amendment and proposed project did not ring true to me.
