So the sun is going to cool down
for the next 20 years according to National Geographics. This seems s bit flaky, but IANAS.

Three independent studies of the sun's insides, surface, and upper atmosphere all predict that the next solar cycle will be significantly delayed—if it happens at all. Normally, the next cycle would be expected to start roughly around 2020.
The combined data indicate that we may soon be headed into what's known as a grand minimum, a period of unusually low solar activity.

The predicted solar "sleep" is being compared to the last grand minimum on record, which occurred between 1645 and 1715.

NOAA has posted January’s solar activity to its graphs. The count of sunspots shows continued slowing. If there is a connection between low solar activity and earth’s climate (see the previous post for details), then the Earth is due for years — perhaps even 2 decades — 0f cold weather and high food prices.

1. I and my family will stay warm inside the Tauntaun-like carcasses of NeoCons, if necessary.
That is the commitment I make to preserve Flaming Liberal ideology.

4. it could be a good thing
If we all realize global warming is happening and work to make changes. A little breathing room is just what we need.

7. True, but it would be a bad thing
if millions starve to death, which is sort of the traditional concommittent of low sun cycles.

11. You and I hope that to be the case
But remember 2008 gasoline prices and how everyone was dumping their trucks and SUVs for fuel efficient cars, then when gas prices went back down they bought more SUVs than ever.

It shocked me to see how short sighted everyone is. Let's hope that we use this brief respite to work even harder to get off of fossil fuels so we emerge even stronger, more self-reliant when "normal" sun conditions return.
