Japan minister - impossible to build 14 new nuclear reactors - Kyodo
Edited on Thu May-19-11 08:14 AM by FBaggins

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's strategy minister said on Thursday that it would be impossible to build 14 new nuclear reactors in Japan as originally planned, Kyodo news agency reported, as the country struggles to contain a crisis at a tsunami-stricken nuclear complex in the northeast.

Japan's long-term energy plan unveiled last year calls for building nine new reactors by 2020 and at least 14 new reactors by 2030.

Strategy Minister Koichiro Gemba made the remarks at special parliamentary committee, Kyodo said.

Since two of the first nine were scheduled to begin construction at Fukushima in the coming months... I'd say this statement falls into the "well DUH!" category.
