Marcellus Shale Gas Well Rupture Contained
CLEARFIELD, Pa. --
Natural gas and drilling fluids spewed from an out-of-control well in Clearfield County on Friday morning and early afternoon.

Emergency officials said a mile-wide area was evacuated after an operation drilling into the Marcellus Shale ruptured.

Just before 2:30 p.m., Team 4 Investigator Jim Parsons reported that Dan Spadoni of the state Department of Environmental Protection said "situation over." EOG Resources, the company that runs the well, informed the DEP that they have capped the well and no additional frack water is being released.

Earlier in the day, the FAA issued a flight restriction in the immediate area.

1. There seem to be a wealth of dangerous fossil fuel accidents lately or is just that all of a sudden
people have just started paying attention to them?

2. Problem with the Marcellus Shale drilling and the way they do it
Edited on Fri Jun-04-10 02:12 PM by RamboLiberal
is it is dangerous even when it doesn't blow up. I'm afraid it is going to destroy a lot of streams & rivers plus the underground water table here in PA and everyone but a few are ignoring it. Even the Dem Gov. All they can see is the damn money. Townships & even residents are selling out their and their neighbor's health plus the health of future generations and the land for the damn royalty checks.

Then later they'll piss and moan when they are sick.

Google Gasland for info on a Sundance winning film on this danger.

3. How can an inanimate object have an "accident"?
No, don't tell me.

4. Well we could ask the uneducable set who always prattle here about "nuclear accidents"
this question, but if your knowledge of linguistics is poor, it's not my job to improve it.

It doesn't surprise me, of course, when I hear that some one who doesn't know how to handle scientific concepts also has trouble with modifiers as well.

My opinion is that there are some people who are educable and others who are clearly not. I need not specify who is who.

9. Another term: "Clueless"
the only thing that get's accomplished by the "pro-nkes" on this board is to make themselves look foolish and full of self. Pro-nukes think they are more "intelligent" and like to call everyone who disagrees with them, regardless of the merit, "stupid", "unintelligent", "idiot", etc.

Scientists (I am one) have a bit of a reputation for being arrogant, but the "pro-nuke" nuclear spokesmen here are unlike any scientist I have met. Seems more like an issue with "overcompensating" and personal "anger management".

I could post chemical equations and papers on this site too, and try to make myself look uber-smart, but this isn't a science journal. If the "pro-nukes" (the ones that like to trash everyone) here are so intelligent what the heck are they doing on this site, instead of actually developing the technologies they are claiming to be on the verge of?

Maybe that is because the "pro-nuke" posters are actually nuclear lobbiests and propagandists? As I have already pointed out evidence from one of their blogs?

10. ^See. That's what a polite post looks like
I am a big fan of Wellstone activism and Lakoff's linguistic concepts.

11. Ah ... "polite" = "writing ad-homs to the same people that you do"
That certainly explains something about your posts ...

6. I think it's the new depths and technologies being employed.
Not as well tested as older tech, and the conditions are more difficult.
