If every pound of oil pouring into the Gulf had been refined, the resulting consumeable fuel would have dumped at least 3 pounds of CO2 into the air. The result would have been just as bad, but invisible; spread over more time and a broader area. So we could have ignored it. We can't ignore the Spill. Even goons like Inhofe can't ignore it.
