I had a short conversation with a right wing nut about power companies today.

I’ve been in training the last three weeks. My class mate next to me was some sort of patriot tea bagger. He was nice enough as long as he didn’t start to talk about politics or religion.

I mentioned that I was late paying my electric bill. He said something about large late fees adding up. I laughed and explained that the city owned all of the utilities. He said something to the effect that I should already know what it will be like living under Obama.

I laughed again and explained that my late fee was less than $10.00 a month and it would take over three months before City Public Service would consider disconnecting me. I went on to explain that I pay some of the lowest rates in the country. I received over $400 in rebates for purchasing high efficiency appliances and my electric bill was less than $100 a month. I explained that I was going to have my attic super insulated and my duct work checked and CPS would pay 40% of the costs and my electric bill would be even lower. I explained that CPS does this to avoid building new power plants and that there isn’t any over paid management sucking profits out their employees and customers. If CPS makes any profit, it goes into the cities general fund and keeps my property taxes low.

All he said was “wow” Apparently he pays a lot more a month and can't afford to upgrade his appliances.

I went on to explain that I was paying 10 cents per kWh instead of 6.5 cents because I was purchasing 100% wind power from CPS. I wasn't trying to make him feel bad. I'm proud of San Antonio and my power company. I think every body should have the same level of service from their power company. In the end, I just felt sorry for him.

1. Education is always the key.

The "dumbing down" of America that began as a Republican strategy back in the 70's hopefully has reached it's peak & people like your classmate and his children will be taking a hard turn on that .

2. I never feel sorry for Repukes who can't pay their bills.
I had a neighbor who had her air conditioning/heating system go out a few years ago. She seemed like a nice enough person so in the summer I fixed her A.C. for a few dollars worth of Fosters beer. A year later, her heating system went out so she called me. I stopped by to help her out and she had Christmas cards from G.W. proudly displayed all over her condo. She was all stressed out cause she lost her job and hoped I could fix her system for a few more beers. I took one look at the Bush cards and told her I couldn't fix it. She would have to spend several thousand dollars to pay a contractor to provide heat. Could I have fixed it? Of course but it was time for her to pull herself up by her bootstraps and be on the recieving end of the free market she seemed so enamored with. God helps them that helps themselves and all that bullshit.

I know that if I was the one with the problem, I would have been treated like some welfare recipient asking for a handout rather than a hand so I left her in the same situation. I have NO sympathy for these assholes.

3. Me too. And sometimes I tell them why I won't do business with them.

4. You, um, sort electrons? Do you, um, sort the ones from Sam Wyly?
Edited on Sat Nov-07-09 03:30 AM by NNadir
Do you know where electricity comes from or how it works?

No?

I thought so.

Sam Wyly of um, "Green Mountain" wind power must have been laughing like hell when he was taking money from "I'm buying wind" delusionists and sending the money directly to the "green" campaign of one George W. Bush, the, um, "Greeniest" candidate in the 2000 Presidential election besides that little shit for brains paranoid who keeps worrying the world about fluoridated water.

http://www.boycottgreenmountain.com/

I would wager that if one were able to do numbers - and let's be clear, that's not a delusionist strong point - one would quickly find out that the number of people who pay for so called "clean green" piles of metal shit in the sky vastly outweighs the amount of energy actually produced.

Or do you shut off your computer when the wind isn't blowing, the TV and the lights?

http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/alternate/page/renew_energy_consump/table3.html

There are zero delusionists who could stand an audit, and zero who even understand what an audit is. If you don't know what you're talking about, make stuff up.

Go have a "grass fed" beef hand burger raised by sustainable butchers with sustainable knives and sustainable bolt in the brain cow killing machines.

5. It must upset you to no end that CPS integrates wind power so cheaply.
Because of its intermittent nature, it has a higher rate. With CPS, I can choose how much of my bill will be the higher rate, 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%.

I'm sure it drives you crazy that CPS allows their customers to choose in this way. By the end of the year, yes, all of my KWhs will be accounted for. CPS does all of the accounting, and when the wind doesn't blow, their power plants will make up the difference. When I'm not using all of the wind power thats available, they will give my excess to others.

XOXOXO :loveya:
