Booming Fall Chinook & Coho Runs On Columbia River
EDIT

"Biologists for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife say this is a bumper year for salmon.

More than 900,000 fall chinook have entered the mouth of the Columbia River this year -- the largest run since at least 1942. Coho also are arriving in huge numbers. Officials expected 270,000 early-stock coho to enter the Columbia, and so far, about 450,000 have arrived. Late coho will add even more.

About 80,000 early and late coho are expected to enter the North Fork of the Lewis River.

The section near the Lewis River Salmon Hatchery is one of the prime fishing spots in the area, according to Wolf Dammers, district fish biologist for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife."
