Dems fail to extend oil shale moratorium
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado — Senate Democrats on Friday tried passing a bill that included language that would continue to prohibit the Bureau of Land Management from issuing final oil shale regulations.

But that effort failed when the financial stimulus package, which would have contained the oil shale ban, stalled in the Senate on a 52-to-42 vote.

1. I'm sure it's all for the best in the long term ...
If you stop oil shale exploitation this time then where do you draw the line
in the future? Do you want the gold miners to be prevented from drilling out
grandma's fillings? Are the mass-market meat providers to only feed vegetation
to factory cows? You'll be wanting Soylent Green to carry origin labels next ...

Bloody namby-pamby liberals and their wishy-washy ways ... good job that there
are none of *those* in leadership appointments isn't it?

2. Now, now...we can trust the good people at Soylent Corp.

"Soylent Red! Protein made from soy-BEAN!"

"Plasticware! Plasticware! Some have scratces, others are hardly damaged at all!"

"Soylent Crumbs! 2 Ds a kilo! Nothing cheaper at the market!"

3. Cut the Dems some slack
The public attitude towards energy right now is toxic. If we want to actually accomplish something towards getting this nation (and the world) off of fossil fuels, then we MUST have CONTROL of both the legislative and executive. The Dems are doing what they need to get that control.

4. Maybe. I don't think triangulation has worked out so well for Dems.
Certainly not since 2000.

5. I don't think of it as triangulation
I'd express it as being smart enough to not poke a hornet's nest with a stick.
