Update: 5:22PM A new report by scientist suggests fast-rising sea-levels are likely to hit Pacific Island countries sooner rather than later, reports Radio New Zealand International.
The latest study which was on levels of carbon dioxide in the earths atmosphere has suggested that emissions have kept on rising over the years. According to the study, predictions of the effects of climate change are based on projected increases in carbon dioxide.
A lead member of the International Carbon Project, Professor Corinne Le Qur, said the trend makes the worst global warming scenario more likely.
"We have just published the figures for CO2 emissions for the entire world for 2007, and what we see is CO2 emissions have gone up again. They are now following the emissions scenario, of the highest emissions that have been used to project climate change this century," he said.
