Listening for ET at Mount Shasta
It may be no accident that a remote volcanic valley area near Mt Shasta, California, was chosen as the home for a new array of 350 radio telescope dishes used by SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence). The area on and near Mount Shasta has a well-earned reputation for being a place where extraterrestrials may be visiting our planet.

It is standard operating procedure to build radio telescope arrays as far from civilization as practical. The Hat Creek Radio Observatory is thirty miles from Shingletown, California and a long way from any large cities. Shingletown is a tiny town with a few shops, a bar and restaurant. It’s also a place where unexplained triangular lights, glowing orange orbs and unidentified disc-shaped objects are frequently seen.

Mount Shasta is the cone of an extinct volcano and part of the Cascade Mountain Range in Northern California. It rises to over 14,000 in height and is located near the California-Oregon border. Stories of UFO and Bigfoot sightings mix with a long held belief that a vortex or space-time doorway lies somewhere on or near the Mount.

Tunnels run deep into Mount Shasta. The Rosicrucians say the tunnels were used by the Lemurians, survivors of the sinking of the continent of Mu over 12,000 years ago. They also claim that the people of Lemuria still live deep in the bowels of the Mount. Some UFO researchers claim that the U.S. Government allows Aliens to use a facility deep inside or under Shasta as an earth base.

XemaSab - did you hear that there was a documented UFO sighting in McCloud which was reported in the local paper?

2. Maybe it was a cloud?
A Scots-Irish cloud? :P

There's a LOT of stories up here of odd happenings. We're not far from bigfoot country either. Many biologists I've worked with think there's something out there that science doesn't know about. I'm probably going to get heckled badly saying this here, but I've got an open mind when it comes to odd things in the woods.

3. I and a busload of college students witnessed an amazing display
of unidentified flying lights just north of Mt. Shasta as we were heading for San Francisco to protest George's war. If that wasn't extraterrestrial the government has built itself some AMAZING flying machines. It was past midnight and someone on the east side of the bus yelled out, "What is THAT?!!!" and everyone got to watch three craft chasing each other at very, very fast speeds over the valley floor.

4. So *that* explains why the glaciers are growing there ...?
It's the sewage outfall from the alien base ...
(Don't eat the yellow snow ... or the green bits or the ... :P )

OK, curiosity time:

> Tunnels run deep into Mount Shasta.

Are these artificial tunnels (e.g., mining) or natural (e.g., lava tubes)?
Are they open to the public or on private land?

(I must have some mole ancestry as whenever I see a tunnel, I start to
wonder where it goes and why?)

6. I don't think there are really tunnels under the mountain
aside from maybe a few natural lava tubes and a couple small limestone caves.

7. Underground military base in McCloud
The Hearst family has a massive property out in McCloud (20 miles east of Mount Shasta). This is common knowledge and an undisputed fact. The propery is very large with multiple "castles" and there are numberous locals who work there under signed non-disclosure agreements.

Here's a bit that I'm not going to liken as either "common knowledge" or "undisputed. I learned last night (from friends who have worked out there) that there is apparently some sort of secret underground base on that property where various projects are worked on. A friend of theirs was out there, saw the facility, called a relative who is in the Air Force and within 24 hours AF brass were at his door informing him that he saw nothing, was to never speak of it again, and was to forget anything he thought he saw...

Now please understand that I do not take the following links seriously, but here's some of the (ever so amusing) stuff that you find when you google "underground military base mccloud"

14. Mt. Lassen, California
Tunnels to: Probably connects to the Mt. Shasta main tunnel.
Notes: Two alien races living inside mountain.
15. Mt. Shasta (click for photo of rays coming out of cave).
Function: Genetic experiments, magnetic advance, space and beam weaponry.
Levels: 5
Tunnels to: Ft. Irwin, California North (maybe to Klamath Falls or Crater Lake, or both.

The Mt. Shasta, CA Entrance
There are tunnels beneath Mt. Shasta that lead to a UFO base there, as well as tunnels that connect with the vast world-wide tunnel network. The Lemurian city "Telos" is said to exist beneath Mt. Shasta. William Hamilton has done much research on Mt. Shasta and the tunnels. He has privately published a book entitled "Alien Magic" 249 North Brand Boulevard, Suite 651 Glendale, CA 91203

http://www.burlingtonnews.net/tunnels2.html
There have been tales of strange-looking, robed persons emerging from the forests and coming into nearby towns surround Mt. Shasta to trade gold nuggets for supplies: 'These odd looking persons were not only peculiar in their dress and different in attire from any costume ever seen on the American Indian, and especially in the California Indian, but distinctive in features and complexion; tall, graceful and agile, having the appearance of being quite old and yet exceedingly virile.' A protrusion in the center of their very high foreheads was said to be a special organ enabling them to communicate by telepathy. When approached by townspeople, the Lemurians would apparently vanish into thin air.

According to the Brotherhood of the White Temple in Sedalia, Colorado entitled Mysteries of Mount Shasta, that it is Atlanteans, not Lemurians, who inhabit Mt. Shasta. Though the Lemurians had indeed created vast, underground pleasure palaces beneath the mountain, they had lost their freedom in a great war with the Atlanteans, and remain imprisoned by the Atlanteans in their pleasure palaces even today. "After their retreat, the Atlantean victors sealed the entrance and established an elaborate guard system which prohibits the Lemurians to ever escape their bondage. The Atlanteans, Dr. Doreal states, still reside in their colony beneath Mt. Shasta and commute every three months by strange cigar-shaped airships to an area in the South Pacific in order to check the sealed entrance of the imprisoned Lemurians." It is these aircraft, some say, that accounts for the occasional appearances of UFOs above Mt. Shasta.

Whoaaaa. Wild stuff...

9. Somehow I was ignorant of the fact that the Hearst family had a spread up there
I know the Hills Brothers (of coffee fame) had a massive spread up there, the Bolli Bokka Club, which they sold to Westlands Water District. :eyes:

Here's a blog post that was written before the sale, but explains the sale VERY WELL:

11. Yep, I know about that sale and the ensuing plans.
You might recall that I'm a web developer. Among my clients are a pair of well-known river/fisheries conservation group, so I track many of the big watershed issues such as that and Nestle. The Winnemem Wintu tribe http://www.winnememwintu.us/ are actively engaged in stopping that project.

My understanding is that it's actually possible to see the key elements of the Hearst spread because it's right on the river. All you need is a kayak or raft, and put in above their property.
