Carbon Dioxide Capture And Storage: Grasping At Straws In The Climate Debate?
Great hopes are being placed on undeveloped technology. Capturing and storing carbon dioxide is predicted to be one of the most important measures to counter the threats to our climate. But the technology still hasn’t been tested in full scale, and the complications and risks it entails may have been grossly underestimated.

1. It's one technique we will need
in an array of techniques if we are to prevent the worst of global warming.

2. Way too late
We need to drastically cut carbon emissions in the next 20 years - CCS technology on a commercial scale is at best still 30 to 40 years out. Its too late-techno-dreaming.

3. "Undeveloped technology?" What are you talking about?
C02 capture is old hat; it's been around for millions and millions of years. How do you think all that C02 was converted into oil and coal in the first place? :hi:

4. A Supporter of Alternate Energy
warning about untested technologies? Isn't 'tested full scale' a bit of a misnomer.

I realize you're quoting Dr. Hansson, but I can't see how those concerned about global warming would want to stop serious efforts to slow it down. Even if no more CO2 were put into the air beginning today, global warming would continue.

Something as simple as burying or sinking farm waste could make a difference. A proposal like this, from the same site, could fit in very well into a carbon-neutral form of energy:
