T. Boone Pickens on CNN Money just now: "We're running out of oil"
"85 million barrels per day is all they can do, and demand is at 87 million."

:wow: He actually said it. Amazing.

1. He actually said it. Amazing.
Why would it surprise you that an oil trader who is betting it will go higher gives an excuse to help it go higher?

8. Bingo.
In all this talk about Peak Oil and shortages, I am starting to detect a possibility of seeded data and manipulation of facts.

With this subject and with putative food shortages, it would behoove the wise person to maintain healthy levels of skepticism in these times.

4. Have to drill in ANWR now, doncha know
We better be careful how far down this path we go. They never say anything unless there's money to be made.

7. Then he knew this was coming long ago, right?
Why the big announcement now? These guys were sitting back just waiting to force us into an energy "crisis". They'll get us coming and going.

10. I can't read his mind. But, it might be than in light of his multi-billion
dollar outlay for the wind energy farm, he is covering his bases. He has been talking up wind energy for months in various TV appearances. He has simply stated before that we are running out of oil and it's time to look for alternatives.

I'm no T.B.Pickens fan. But, I do think the guy knows how to make money.

The entire Country could start profiting immediately of there was a major Nation initiative to move toward alternate energy. Wind in particular in competitive with coal fired plants right now. Geothermal, tidal, wave and solar are close to reaching the par in costs.

We aren't moving due to the lock that the oil, coal and nuke factions has on the media and the Government with regard to national energy policy.

I don't disagree with most of your opinions about the oil barons.

Interesting debate from last May on SPAN between he and Steve "magic markets" Forbes on the point:
