Save the critically endangered Okinawa Dugong
http://www.okinawa-u.ac.jp/~tsuchida/Save-Dugong/english.html

The US is forcing the Japanese to allow them to open another base in the vicinity of the critically endangered Nothernmost Dugong.

The Dugong are loved and revered in Japan as the "mermaid of the sea".

1. Really? They slaughter whales and revere dugongs?
How civilized of them.

5. Some do one, some do the other.
The ones who revere dugongs *are* civilized.
I refrain from commenting on those who slaughter whales.

4. It's pretty much axiomatic that American policies have become major parts of the worlds problems
Think about it.

What percebtage of the worlds' population lives in America?

What percentage of the worlds energy resources do they use?

How does nationalism, entitlement and exceptionalism provide excuses for willfully failing to cooperate with worldwide organizations -or refuse to sign -or unilaterally abrogate international treaties?

Much less listen to its own scientists.

Sadly, from my perspective- Reagan's assertions about an "evil empire" are ringing all too ironically -and reigning all too true, in the 21st Century.

6. Is that a stale link?
There didn't seem to be anything on that site since 2001
(and most was earlier still) so is it just the English translation
page that's out of date or was it the wrong link please?

Thanks for raising this anyway. :hi:
