I'm working on Nancy Skinner's campaign for U.S. House in MI-09. Nancy almost beat 14-year incumbent Joe Knollenberg in '06, losing by only 5% despite being outspent 7 to 1. Well, Nancy is running again, but faces a tough primary opponent this time out. Nancy is the more progressive of the two and he is the establishment candidate, being supported by the state party and Rahm Emanuel and the DCCC. They pushed her aside even though she almost won last time.
Well, the DFA Grassroots All Stars contest has begun and Nancy is in 4th place, needing just 15 votes at this point to move into third place. The top three go on to the finals. The kicker is that her primary opponent, who wasn't even in the top 10 a few hours ago, is now gaining quickly and has moved into 6th place. Voting ends at 12 a.m. on January 28.
If you haven't voted yet, would you consider going to
http://www.democracyforamerica.com/gras and voting for Nancy? It would be greatly appreciated! She came in second in 2006 and I'd love to see her win it all this time. When you go to vote, you can read about Nancy before you vote -- I wouldn't want you to vote for her if you don't like what you see. Or, you can go to her website at
http://www.skinnerforcongress.com. Nancy has a long history of being involved in environmental issues, which you can read about at either DFA or her website. I've also posted a blog at blogforamerica at
http://www.blogforamerica.com/view/23599 where you can read about some of Nancy's experience related to the environment and alternative energy.
Thank you, my fellow DUers! I'm counting on you to help us out on this.
