Tropical Storm Possible in Atlantic

Monday December 10, 2007 12:46 AM

MIAMI (AP) - A weather system off Puerto Rico has
the potential to become a tropical storm, forecasters
said Sunday, a little more than a week after the
Atlantic hurricane season ended.

At 5 p.m. EST, the system was about 550 miles east-
northeast of Puerto Rico. It was moving west at about
15 to 20 mph and was expected to continue that
general motion over the next day or two, according
to the National Hurricane Center.

It could become a tropical or subtropical storm during
the next 24 hours, forecasters said. Tropical storms
have winds of at least 39 mph.

The Atlantic hurricane season, which ended Nov. 30,
had 14 named storms this year. Six of those were
hurricanes.

3. Jesus fucking christ....bring it on!
It can't get much worse here. I've been conducting ocean surveys off the north coast of PR the last 2 weeks and we have been getting the shit beat out of us from 20+ knot winds and 8-10 foot swells. Just miserable watching most of the help puke their guts out.

We have had to quit a week early because of the forecasts. Back home to the cold north tomorrow and we'll try again next year.
