Climate activists deported for protest (Bali)
Jakarta, Dec. 5 (AFP): An Indian and two other activists, who planned to travel to the UN climate change conference in Bali, were deported for violating their visas by attending a protest.

The trio had given speeches against plans to set up a waste incinerator near Bandung, the capital of West Java, on Sunday, immigration official Nanang Kusdaryanto said. “They were deported via Sukarno-Hatta airport in Jakarta yesterday.”

The three — Shibu Nair from India, Gigie Cruz from the Philippines and Neil Tangri from the US — held tourist visas, which had been violated when they attended the protest, Kusdaryanto said.

1. Wow. They never even made it to Bali.
Busted in Jakarta for protesting a waste incinerator in W. Java. So many problems, so little time or people who care. I hope they're okay.

2. You're kidding! OHMIGOD! NO!!!!! IT"S THE END OF THE WORLD!
Some yuppie brat travels all the way to Bali to say "Look at me!"

Big fucking deal.

If he wanted to protest incinerators - which are defined by the EIA, by the way, as "renewable energy" and are, in fact, one of the largest such sources listed - the yuppie brat American could have found plenty of incinerators to protest on the American East coast.
