1. kestrel's summary in a nutshell: We are SOOOO fucked.
And we have no one to blame but ourselves.

2. Really? No one to blame but ourselves?
Is this coming from someone who has consistently opposed the form of energy that is, by far, the largest single source of climate change gas free energy?

Come now, don't be so hard on yourself big boy. It's not like the dangerous fossil fuel waste crisis is anything like the so called "nuclear waste" crisis that the anti-nuke cult spends half their day crying about, is it?

I mean, aren't you always marching around here crying when I call dangerous fossil fuel waste "dangerous fossil fuel waste." I mean isn't your little "solar and wind are enough" chant sort of a claim that dangerous fossil fuel waste isn't dangerous?

I mean you do seem to engage in a lot of foot stomping over that locution. Of course, I couldn't care less about why that gets under your skin, but the fact that it does get under your skin says pretty much everything we need to know.

I have the distinct impression that you couldn't care less about dangerous fossil fuel waste, have never cared about dangerous fossil fuel waste and never will care about dangerous fossil fuel waste.

I also have the distinct impression that you couldn't care less what's in this report either. As usual, it's just words and posturing.

The IPCC has no trouble saying the word "nuclear," but then again, the IPCC is in the reality business and not in the cult business.

Don't worry. Be happy. Have another glass of Allen's Coffee Brandy and don't lose another second of sleep over the whole affair. I'm sure another "world's largest" solar system has just been built somewhere and that soon solar electricity will provide 0.1 exajoules somewhere.

3. Where did you get the rather comical idea that I am a "big boy"?
Women actually have minds and use them with some regularity, too.

BTW, you forgot to call me illiterate. You REALLY are off your game lately.

"......I have the distinct impression that you couldn't care less about dangerous fossil fuel waste, have never cared about dangerous fossil fuel waste and never will care about dangerous fossil fuel waste......."
***Sorry. Wrong on this one. I care more than you could ever imagine.

".......I mean isn't your little "solar and wind are enough" chant sort of a claim that dangerous fossil fuel waste isn't dangerous?......"
***When did I EVER claim that solar and wind are "enough"? You have a very active imagination.

Solving our energy woes is going to take something very different from our "all eggs in one handy basket" approach of years past. Putting all our eggs into nuclear power, as you propose with much foaming, frothing, namecalling and spitting, is the worst sort of folly. Don't you "big boys" ever learn anything from your previous mistakes??? Time to let us girls have a little say in things. We might be able to fix this royally fucked-up mess you've made of the world in your relentless pursuit of ever-increasing quarterly corporate profits.

I support energy diversification in the form of MASSIVE conservation efforts (complete with fuel rationing and, yes, "lifestyle changes") plus biofuels plus plus wind plus solar plus hydro plus limited use of fossil fuels, and yes, even nuclear (eventually phasing out those last two). If someone ever comes up with fusion power, I'm all in favor of that, of course.

But you just keep up with the nasty, hateful, namecalling screeds if it helps you cope with your personal shortcomings. Here's a hanky for that spittle......
