Wind energy company to employ more than first planned

WINDSOR — Vestas Wind Systems A/S plans to double its new 200,000-square-foot facility, adding an additional 200 to 250 employees, said Jens Soby, president of Vestas Americas.

Vestas currently employs 450 workers, Soby said. With the announced expansion it will increase to more than 600 employees.

Denmark-based Vestas, the world’s largest wind turbine producer, broke ground on the new facility in the Great Western Industrial Park in June, and will begin production in January.
