1. i read an account in an old speed age magazine

about the first electric car crossing of america. if i remember correctly one of the biggest problem is finding somewhere that had an electrical outlet to charge the battery. i`ll have to go through my collection to find it

2. I think the first cars were all electric. Then when the combustion engine was

developed, oil companies became big supporters of the new technology. Oil companies also bought up electric street car companies and pulled up the routes to force individuals to take to the road in cars that required gas.

It's definitely been an oil-led industry with no motives to look for alternatives until recently.

My vote is for Tesla Motors to be the star in the next film, "Who Saved The Electric Car?". They've had some launch delays, but they are convinced that electric cars are viable and actually better cars. Once the Tesla is on the road and the company is able to then develop family sedans and more affordable choices, I predict a paradigm shift in our approach to personal transportation.
