Wal-Mart to look at suppliers' energy efficiency
http://www.reuters.com/article/environmentNews/idUSN2426684420070924

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc has formed a partnership with the Carbon Disclosure Project to look for ways for its suppliers to better manage their energy efficiency, as part of its environmental push, the company said on Monday.

Under the partnership with the not-for-profit organization, which collects greenhouse gas emissions data from large companies, Wal-Mart will measure the amount of energy used throughout its supply chain, and use the method on a group of its suppliers to look for ways to make procurement, manufacturing and distribution more energy efficient.

The world's largest retailer said it will kick-start the plan with a pilot group of seven commonly used products: DVDs, toothpaste, soap, milk, beer, vacuum cleaners and soda.

Suppliers will be encouraged to monitor and manage their greenhouse gas emissions and reduce Wal-Mart's "total carbon footprint, John Fleming, Wal-Mart's chief merchandising officer, said in a statement.

2. Wal Mart needs to do some looks inside it's own company
about those pesky issues of unpaid overtime, health care and while we are on the subject of suppliers perhaps we should mention the walmartization of so much of our production in the quest for cheaper and cheaper until corners have to be cut and unsafe goods end up on the shelves.

In a kinder and gentler sense .......Screw Wal Mart:mad:

3. Oh Good. I guess this means that Walmart is abandoning the business model

that includes importing cheap plastic shit from China manufactured in plants running on coal.

That should stop the parade of freighters from China hauling stuff that was made by people who make $5 on a good day.

Walmart, now that it has Amory Lovins on its payroll at $20,000/day, has become a big, big, big, big hero for "leftist" anti-nuke environmentalists.

It even installed brazillions and brazillions and brazillions of solar roofs, and when you're stuck in the parking lot behind 75 Ford Expeditions that have come to buy a screwdriver because the local hardware store that you used to be able to walk to has been driven out of business, you can stare up at the brazillion megawatt solar cells and say.

"I feel so green when I buy plastic disposable plates at Walmart."

Walmart signs contract with Sun.

In an open ended deal mega-corporation Walmart has signed a multi-year deal with the Sun.

As per the agreement, the Sun is to continue to spew out it's rays so walmart can continue operations at it's solar powered stores.

However, in a small printed section of the contract, it appears as if the Sun has signed on for more that it can handle.

Section 23, part 42, sub section VI

To whit, the first part (walmart) has exclusive rights over the second party (the Sun) and as a result may suddenly demand more power from the second party (the Sun) without written warning or notice. It is then the responsibility of the second party (the sun) to up production to meet the first parties (walmart) request.

More so, the first party (walmart) may demand that the additional power be paid at or at a lower price which will be determined by the first party (walmart)

Several calls to the Sun have not been answered.
