Lawrenceville figures to save money with biodiesel (Georgia)

Lamar Hall didn't think biodiesel would do much except slow down the garbage trucks in Lawrenceville.

The city's fleet superintendent went along for the ride, though, with a two-week test last month of biodiesel, a fuel made of renewable resources, such as vegetable oil.

Drivers said their engines had more power. The trucks ran cleaner, Hall said, and came back to the shop with more fuel in the tank.

"I was expecting the economy to go down and the trucks to be more sluggish," Hall said. But now, "I figure it's about 10 percent more efficient with biodiesel."

1. The University of Georgia bus system (2nd biggest in the state) also uses bio diesel.

The buses seem to be running just fine! :) Good for UGA and Lawrenceville!

We (I'm a UGA grad) play Western Carolina here in Athens on Saturday at 1 PM. It won't be on TV (except pay per view) but we can listen to the "legendary voice of the Dawgs," Larry Munson on our radios! Larry is only broadcasting home games this year. :( He's getting pretty old and doesn't want to travel as much as he used to do.
