(Adds storm position, details)

WASHINGTON, Sept 13 (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Ingrid,
the ninth Atlantic storm of the year, formed on Thursday in
the Atlantic Ocean east of the Caribbean islands, the U.S.
National Hurricane Center said.

The storm, located about 840 miles (1,350 km) east of the
lesser Antilles, was headed in the general direction of the
northeastern Caribbean but was days from having any
impact on land.

Top sustained winds were near 40 mph (65 kph) with higher
gusts, the center said, adding a small increase in strength
was possible in the next 24 hours.

I kid! I wish I had gone to school to be a weather person. You NEVER have to be right, and you get paid!

4. My preferred page.
http://www.ih2000.net/ira/bmt-wth.htm It's a wreck of a page, but includes most of what you'd ever want to see. It was down most of today, though ... whoever maintains it is over in Beaumont and lost power.

http://www.skeetobiteweather.com/ offers a slightly different set of "spaghetti models". A useful adjunct.

3. I Guess It's Wishful Thinking
to predict she'll veer north
slide up the Chesapeake Bay
hang a left at the Potomac
and give Washington a giant Flushing?

5. Alternatively ...
... it would be good in some ways if it were to dump its load on the
Appalachian coal pits and flood the damn things (or at least wreck
the machinery used) ... as long as the people get enough warning to
scramble clear then that would be poetic justice indeed ...

Tropical Storm Ingrid fizzles in far Atlantic
Sat Sep 15, 2007 12:44pm EDT

MIAMI (Reuters) - Tropical Storm Ingrid, the ninth
named storm of the 2007 hurricane season, fell apart
over the open Atlantic on Saturday and was
downgraded to a tropical depression as it fought
unfavorable atmospheric conditions.

The weather system was likely to continue to weaken
due to wind shear -- the difference in wind direction
and speed at different altitudes -- but some computer
models still indicated it could strengthen again if it
clings on as a depression for a few days, the U.S.
National Hurricane Center said.
