just saw "Crude Awakening" for the first time
now all I can think about is how much time we have left before all the oil is gone and how much I HATE doing my laundry by hand. Should I go order my hand-crank clotheswasher now while we still have the means to make them and ship them?

and should we buy solar units that are on the grid or off the grid? I like hot water too.

1. I watched it yesterday.
Maybe that explains my dyspepsia and depression today.

There is nothing new in there for anyone who has been thinking about the implications of Peak Oil for a few years. However, seeing the story of our doom told with such remarkable production values does make one pause for further reflection.

The DVD of "What A Way To Go" just came out, and I've ordered a copy of that as well. It promises to be a gloomy august chez GliderGuider.

2. Products are, on average, as cheap as they'll ever be. Because we are on the Peak now.
I guess that constitutes an argument for laying in whatever supplies you think best, now rather than later.

with Thom Hartmann.

I was so glad that I had been driving my Prius for awhile; eventually, I'd like to convert into a plug-in hybrid.

On edit:
Looks like there are two fine documentaries relating to the same subject.
******************************Quote**************************************
The ‘talking heads’ are very good, some of them familiar (Campbell, Simmons, Savinar..) and others not. All have useful insights to offer on the situation, from perspectives new to the peak oil debate. Unlike EoS’s’ focus on suburbia, or ‘the greatest misallocation of resources in the history of the world’ as it describes it, this film goes beyond the US experience, being more of a global film, focusing on Europe and the UK as much as the US. Whereas the recent movie ‘Crude Impact’ focuses on too many things and it ends up a rather confused and exhausting sprawl, Crude Awakening keeps its gaze purely on peak oil, and presents a well argued, well-paced, and well-edited summary of what peak oil is and what it will mean for us all.
