Hot as usual. Just enough water to last for the next two months. Summer veggies hanging in there, should be a good crop. Running low on jars.
Got a letter from Steve yesterday. Doing well, but not much better than it was here. Says he got checked at multiple points by national guard along the way. At two of them, he got warning shots.
Things are getting weird.
The streets are pretty bad now. It's funny how quickly things go to pot when there is no maintenance keeping things up.
Two weeks ago, the military ops center finally held a question and answer session for the community. First the captain gave an opening speech. Something along the lines of maintaining order, etc. I expected that. Several people asked a bunch of questions, I just sort of sat back and watched. The thing that worried me is when we all left. Bob Stevens who was closest to the front, said he saw the title of the paper work on the captains desk. Something called Garden Plot. I recall that from somewhere but I can't place it.
Then outside, I noticed all the military trucks were painted black with a blue chevron on the doors. Ever since the big outing of blackwater back in 12, the US military has been very cautious about using mercs. Now here they are again but it seems like they are under US military rule. But then I can only guess at this.
I guess it's good that they are here now. A series of robberies came to a halt last week when the robbers were caught trying to steal one of Mr. Ross's horses. Mr. Ross shot one in the leg, woke up everyone. Those guys never had a chance. We turned them over to the military, we haven't see or heard from them since.
The riots got worse over the summer. I guess heat does that to people. Heard that Baltimore of all places was basically shut down for a week. Full marchall law is now in effect in Phoenix, Tucson and El Paso.
I was on a hardware supply run with Greg yesterday, the steady stream of military going south seems to have grown and more powerful weapons as well. Tanks.
We finally heard from Connie's Daughter. She's okay. She says that up in northern CA things are pretty normal. Good crops. no gas, but carts with mules and oxen. We have been trying to figure out a way we can get there, but it doesn't seem likely.
We are now using a community computer. We sign out blocks of time. It's worked very well. Uses much less power.
Nothing new out of Europe. Prevailing winds have spared most of it from Iran. However, everything east of there, seems in very bad shape.
This will be one cold winter. Times up!
