Never forget this about Chris Dodd:
Senator Chris Dodd, Democrat of Connecticut and Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, has received $752,698 in contributions from the financial sector. He's received more from the mortgage banking and brokerage industry than any other congressperson, and Citigroup, AIG, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, and Morgan Stanley have been among his biggest donors.

1. How can we possibly expect someone who's so indebted to an industry
to vote against it? We've got to put a stop to the lobbying and campaign donations, which are obviously nothing more than BRIBES.

And others in Congress have flat out admitted that Congress is OWNED.

It's time to clean house. Both of them.

3. He's also one of those "Friends of Angelo" ......
..... who got a nice, low-interest loan from the not-at-all corrupt Countrywide.

4. Yup
and CT is going to very deservedly toss him out next election.

If we want a viable candidate, we need to be the ones to toss him out in the primary. Are there any viable challengers lined up? If not, we can start getting used to the phrase "Senator Schiff (R-CT)". Not the worst alternative, I suppose.

6. You'd best hope Dodd doesn't go.
Dodd won't have a significant Democratic primary challenger. The only realistic scenario in which he's not re-elected is that he loses to a Republican, probably . Before you jump to hail that as an improvement, consider a couple excerpts from Simmons's :

Taxes and Spending
Government bailouts and massive government spending packages disguised as “stimulus” have failed. Our national deficit is out of control and is threatening to bankrupt America. Each day brings new talk of higher taxes on all Americans. I will oppose reckless spending plans and higher taxes that cripple economic recovery, and support pro-growth policies. We need to grow the economy, not the government.

Health Care
I believe every American should have access to affordable health care, but putting politicians and government bureaucrats between patients and doctors will only make things worse. We need reforms that increase consumer choice, improve quality, expand access, and protect doctors against costly junk lawsuits without blowing a hole in the deficit, huge tax increases or a government takeover of health care.

Simmons's (November 21) was a blast at Dodd for supporting civil trials for the alleged 9/11 plotters.

Dodd is far from perfect, but he's better than someone who's going all-out to appeal to the teabagger vote.
