Pipelining reward points from credit cards

I just had this idea, and wondered if anybody had ever tried it. You get (n) credit cards, each with reward points. You use cc(1) for actually buying stuff. Then you pay cc(1) with cc(2), ... and pay cc(n-1) with cc(n), and pay off cc(n) from your checking account.

So, you multiply your reward points by a factor of (n).

Is that possible? Paying a credit card only takes a couple minutes. Seems like it could pay off pretty well, in theory. With the added bonus of legally sticking it to credit card companies.

1. I don't think you can payoff your credit card with

another credit card.

Although American Express once had a program where you could get free travelers checks, they also gave points for "buying" the travelers checks. Some smart folks were "earning" so many points they could fly across the country for "lunch". AMX ended the program or at least that part of it. I haven't checked my points balance but it must be in the 80K range again. I use them up every year for holiday gifts.

I was thinking of balance transfers, but that isn't really the same thing. Oh well.
