Hoodwinked: Former Economic Hit Man John Perkins Reveals Why the World Financial Markets Imploded—and How to Remake Them

John Perkins calls himself a former economic hit man. He has seen the signs of today’s financial meltdown before. The subprime mortgage fiasco, the collapse of the banking industry, the rising unemployment rate—these are all familiar to him. Perkins was on the front lines of monitoring and helping create these very events that were once just confined to the Third World. From 1971 to 1981, he worked for the international consulting firm of Chas T. Main, where he was a self-described “economic hit man.” He is the author of the New York Times bestseller Confessions of An Economic Hit Man and The Secret History of the American Empire.

John Perkins, from 1971 to 1981, he worked for the international consulting firm of Chas T. His latest book is called Hoodwinked: An Economic Hit Man Reveals Why the World Financial Markets Imploded and What We Need to Do to Remake Them.

But we knew this, didn't we?
It is just that lately, there is less and less effort on behalf of the Corpocracy to hide what they are doing.

edit to add links to other Democracy NOW transcripts, which tell why we had the oil shortage of the 70's and why Saudi Arabia is such a fun pal of our government, and what Halliburton (Cheney) is really doing.

These links are from previous years of his appearance on the show.

4. This is really worth watching, folks.
I am pretty much aware of all this, and am still impressed by how Perkins lays it out in such a short time.

8. It was a good show.
I read his "Confessions" book. Wish the entire world would wake up.

I don't agree that laws will make the corporations start looking at sustainability - don't get me wrong, I love the concept - but laws won't do that. I'm not sure what will, but I don't think another law (that exists to be broken) is the answer.
