11. Just a guess ...
Did it go up in value 100K in 3-5 years? If that's the case, it's just coming back down to earth.

4. I sold my dad's house in Florida in February 2006
for 10% under the comps after I'd counted the number of "For Sale" signs in the general area. People thought I was nuts.

Three weeks later, the bottom fell out.

That house is now 40% down from what I sold it for, a house with a pool in a desirable area.

I know just how you feel.

6. I sold a house in Seattle three years ago for 750k
It just resold for five and a quarter. Unfortunately I've lost at least 100k on my new house in Oregon - if I'd just pocketed the money and rented a house it would have been an escape like Houdini.

9. we had to do a Ch13 while in PHX
luckily the house there was homesteaded so we got to keep the profits to buy this place

after the move we were able to pay of the chap 13 almost 2 years early

whew

and yes, once you sign the papers you wonder why you struggled so long......

12. I was planning to sell my house 3 years ago
But I had nowhere to go, so sadly changed my plans and went back to school instead. And foolishly listened to the advisor who said, "Oh, don't sell your house! You can just borrow the money."

If only I'd discovered DU 3 or 4 years ago, I wouldn't have made such a dreadful mistake. I would have found a place to go and dumped this place before it was too late.

Now instead of being in decent shape to ride out a few more years of this storm, with zero debt and still some cash, I'm broke with $20K in stafford loans with 2 more years to go to the MLT degree (the advisor also told me a string of lies that set me back a full year -- a couple more thousand for the University, financial ruin for me).

I have about $900 in bills coming due. I have $150 or so in the bank. I'm owed about $5,000 in back pay, student loans and a tax refund. And the owers are dragging their feet.

I've never been in this position before, with so many responsibilities and no way to meet them if others don't do what they're supposed to do. :( :( :(

Tomorrow morning, I have to call:
1. Dept of Labor on the company that fired me w/out cause, w/out notice...and w/out paying me the last week's pay.
2. School financial aid dept -- you told me stafford loans would be dispersed 8/21, then you told me they'd be dispersed 8/28 -- so why have they not been dispersed and why does my account say past due?
3. Security at my new job that starts 9/8 to set appointment for fingerprinting.
