Outsourcing? Try 'Insourcing'
http://www.wired.com/news/business/0,1367,62430,00.html?tw=wn_tophead_9

ONTARIO, Oregon -- Chris Harry is a model employee for the U.S. call-center industry.

The 25 year-old arrives promptly at his cubicle, speaks courteously on the phone and is never late or absent. He plans to stick with his job for three years, a boon in an industry plagued by high turnover. And he gladly works for money many Americans would scoff at -- $130 or so a month.

OK... :wtf: ?!?!?! What the hell is this shit?! This is a classic
example of shrub's corporate America.

2. This is nothing new. I remember a few years back hearing of
telemarketering and airline bookings being done by prisoners. There was the story of one guy getting a bunch of unauthorized charges on the card he used for business travels. The prisoner was recording credit card numbers and began using them once he got out about 8 months later.
There was a big stink about it and trying to get the practice stopped. Looks like it's still in full swing.

4. Welcome to the American gulag
Seems to me that modern corporations are borrowing more than a few ideas from Comrade Stalin.

5. I was "insourced" . . .
My last job before I retired was with a large British information company. Don't want to metion the name but you prabably know who I mean.

It was easily the best job I ever had. Great pay, 5-weeks vacation, pension, stock options, 35 hour work week, clean modern comfortable office space, and the absolute latest and most interesting technology to work with.

My advice to anyone starting out on their career is to try to find a position with a European company operating here in the US.
