1. So?
After seeing his website, he is just trying to make a buck.

And you are going to trust Goofy Geithner, Helo Ben, and the Zombie Banks who have stolen 12.8 Trillion instead?

I'd say the were "out to make a buck" too.

TPTB are going to get all of your money whether you want them to or not. With them you don't get a choice.

What will you do when there are no more messengers to shoot?

I do like your username however.

The answer to THAT question can be found in an old George Carlin routine:

"It's A Big Club. And You Ain't In It."

3. He is a person I listen to and pay close attention to.
He is a frequent guest on "Coast to Coast AM", thankfully.

5. Why thank you Mike. That was nice of you.

I may post this in GD later. Maybe next week. I still want some more info on the market. I think it's a head fake but it's not showing yet.

9. Posting this in GD would be beyond entertaining.
The "Worship The Football Team Or Die" Brigade would tear it into a million pieces and heads would explode from coast to coast.

HOWEVER, there are those on DU who can still "see" who would benefit.

Post it.

I'll get the popcorn. :)

7. I think I missed the prediction part
I heard a recap of the recent bubbles that burst and the current bailout bubble. I heard that an early sign that it's about to burst will be a rise in gold prices. And that unemployment would rise (nothing new), crime would go up (nothing new), and the guv would squeeze the little guys any way they can (nothing new), and that as the US goes so goes the world (nothing new).

What I didn't hear were predictions on how it would play out, or when. Or do you need to subscribe to get details?

I seriously want to understand. I am about to completely restructure. Assuming I sell my house (50/50 chance it'll sell), I will be downsizing house and location, ensuring I have wood stove for alternate heat or moving to location where heat is not a major factor, getting my new gardens going (food & medicine) and either continuing in (allied health care) school or quitting school. And if I continue school, deciding whether to do it cash or loan. In a hyperinflationary environment, loans are paid off with cheaper dollars and my cashfreed up from downsize will be available to stock up on goods and maybe invest in something.

8. I hear you....HOW and WHEN...
...That is what I want to hear.

I think many people understand and feel in their gut--that we are all inside a bubble that is
about to burst. It's really not revolutionary to predict that this house of cards is going
to fall.

When? And HOW will it play out? These are the questions that we need to be focused on.

I'm well past denial. This ship has hit the berg, and hell if I'm going to stand around in disbelief--refusing
to get on a lifeboat.

I'm preparing, but I am really craving hard data. What do we do with our money? How do we prepare for this?
What are the precursors that indicate a hard fall is fairly imminent?

Discussions of those questions will help everyone to be better prepared.

11. "When" is irrelevant for those who aren't prepared right now, or whenever...

What you can do now in attempting to be able to at least survive the possible/probable hard times ahead?

You and your family!

Guns & Bullets? Coffee? Tobacco? 90% silver coins? Fungible gold? Honey? Canned hams? Seeds for survival gardening? Fuel? All of these and much more? Camping gear? A year plus supply of basic foods and supplies?

By now, if you have been paying attention, you have already sold everything you possibly could/can to turn your unnecessary stuff into cash to finance your provisioning efforts.

Already the value of the toys littering our lives has begun plummeting.

Pleasure boats? Can't give them away.

Formerly valuable wines? Much less expensive now.

Recreational vehicles, etc.? Steep loss in value generally.

Even real estate? A complete crash is underway apparently with the bottom still beyond the horizon.

Don't dilly-dally... Do some studying/research. Your decisions now could easily be the difference between thriving or not.

Or not...

12. Unfortunately...
...I am married to a guy who thinks that we just experienced some bad times that are now improving. Hey, I love
my husband to death, but he refused to believe that we are entering some very dark times.

So, I cannot make major changes. We have a house that we're staying in. I have insisted on some changes, and believe
me, I've fought tooth and nail for them. We pulled our 401k out of the stock market in the fall--at my insistence.
We also pulled a good chunk of money out of the banking system. These things irritate my husband. He doesn't believe
what I believe. He's just tolerating, what he thinks, are my alarmist, cuckoo theories.

I've got stockpiles of food and necessities--enough for about 5 months. We've got a cash emergency fund that could keep us
afloat and paying all bills for 6 months.

I continue to plod along and do more...

15. We must be married to the same guy...almost.
Mr. D. very reluctantly goes along with how I handle the money.
He hates to even think about money, so was thrilled to let me handle it.
I no longer talk details to him, just an occasional vague "big picture" statement, such as
" I am arranging the budget to be prepared for worst case scenario".
That is all he wants to hear, as long as he has his monthly wallet money.
Details make him anxious, then he tries to "manage" the outcomes.
His genius lies in his ability to build a working solar oven or water filter out of stuff lying around the house.
My concern now is that what we have saved up is going to be deeply devalued, so while we still have
deflation we are "investing" in self sufficiency items.

17. Yes, our situations sound similar...
Like you, I took over the budgeting and finances--and hubby is just fine with that. I brief him every
once in a while about how much I've socked away. It's not in the bank either, and that's an issue for him.
So, I try not to bring it up.

Like you, I make sure he has his "mad money"--while I plot our survival without him understanding the
details.

Some day, they'll thank us, right? :)

I'm also a couponer/refunder--one of those people who can get a cart full of groceries for $20. So, I stockpile
a lot of food and essentials. I've been doing that for about six years, so now that I'm thinking "survival" my
stockpiling doesn't seem all that out of the ordinary.

Like you, I'm wondering about the cash we're setting aside. Will it be worth squat down the road? I guess that's
why stockpiling and having other essentials is important.

I'm curious, if you want to share--about what self-sufficiency items you have or are planning to get.

It's good to hear about someone else who is dealing with a similar dynamic. I have a feeling that our husbands know
we are right. They could be complaining or kicking and screaming louder than they are, right?

I was shocked when my husband finally acquiesced and pulled our 401k out of the stock market last fall. He's looking
at the numbers now, and he's wanting to jump back in. So...I try to avoid the subject...

18. I must have the spousal triplet, lol

He has always been content for me to manage the household bills, watch the money. At my suggestion, last year we sold our few stocks and bought 4-week Treasury Bills via TreasuryDirect.gov. Spouse transferred his IRA to a tax-deferred CD at the credit union. I tried to warn my family to do the same things, but they decided to stay in the markets on the advice of their financial advisers, because they said the markets always recover. They all lost a lot, but spouse likes to brag to everyone that we didn't lose anything.

I too have stockpiled food, household items, and underwear. I probably had 6 months of extra food, but spouse keeps eating it, lol.

He is the builder, and while he hasn't yet done anything, he has a garage full of tools and extra supplies to make and fix just about anything. So I am really grateful for his skills.

The only thing left that I want to buy, is a water filter. They cost $300/$400. They are quite large. I could just see the expression on spouse's face when he sees that delivered. He is the type of person who thinks there will always be clean water, full electricity, and heat/AC.

I was following this list of 100 items that disappear in an emergency. Most I have acquired, but it's time to review again to see if I have missed anything.

14. He said on another video. Dec Christmas sales will be bad and that will set things up
for a January downturn. He also said he thinks they will start a war to distract from the economy.

I'd tell you what to do but I don't know myself.
